Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas said Saturday he expects a new Palestinian government to be formed within four or five days, and to seek parliament approval in a week.
Haniyeh spoke in an interview broadcast on Palestinian television.
Coalition talks between Hamas and the Fatah movement of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas started three weeks ago, but some issues remain unresolved. Haniyeh said he hoped final agreement could be reached Wednesday or Thursday. The new coalition could seek parliament approval Saturday, he said.
