Indictment says former prisoner assisted Gaza terror group

A 32-year-old Palestinian Authority resident and former security prisoner asked for and received thousands of dollars in payment from a Gaza terror group in return for helping Hamas, according to an indictment filed in the Central District Court on Monday.
Ahmed Kadi, from the PA controlled town of Surif, 25 km. from Hebron, allegedly asked for money from a designated terrorist group, the al-Noor prisoner society for former security prisoners, and agreed to help the group by transferring cash to other former prisoners.
According to the indictment, Kadi contacted an al-Noor representative in April and asked for monetary compensation for his activities helping Hamas and also for the time he had spent in an Israeli prison for security offenses.
For two months, Kadi allegedly discussed the issue of money with the al-Noor agent, known as Abu Osama.
In early June, Abu Osama is alleged to have told Kadi that he would get his money – but he would also have to help al-Noor by transferring cash to other former security prisoners.
On June 12, Kadi allegedly drove to Dhahiriya southwest of Hebron to give the money to the two beneficiaries, but was arrested by IDF troops, who discovered a total of $19,000 cash in Kadi’s car, the indictment said.
Kadi stands charged with contacting a foreign agent, attempting to provide service to an illegal organization and carrying out a prohibited property transaction in reward for terrorist acts.
