Syrian President Bashar Assad met with Iran's defense minister on Sunday to discuss the cooperation between the countries, Syria's official news agency said. SANA said Assad and Mostafa Najjar also talked about the latest developments in the Middle East. It did elaborate. Najjar, who arrived in Damascus late Friday, met with his Syrian counterpart Hassan Turkmany on Saturday and discussed strengthening cooperation between the two regional allies and their armies. Najjar's meeting with Assad comes a day after an international conference to help stabilize Iraq was held in Baghdad, bringing together Iran, Syria and Western countries including the United States.
