A suicide bomb hidden in a minivan exploded in a southern Iraqi city Sunday near a crowd of men waiting to be hired as day laborers, killing 22 and wounding at least 44, police said.
The explosion occurred in central Hillah, a city 95 kilometers (60 miles) south of Baghdad, as the crowd of men waited to be hired for construction work, said police Capt. Muthanna Khalid Ali.
