Jordan: Palestinians get 10 yrs. instead of death

A Jordanian military court that sentenced two Palestinian terrorists to death has replaced the punishment with 10 years of imprisonment instead, Israel Radio reported Wednesday. The terrorists, Jordanian residents Khaled Muhammed and Phiras Rifa'i, were convicted for planning to infiltrate Israel and carry out an attack on Israeli citizens. The two were caught about half a year ago, shortly before they were to head for the border, and a large supply of weaponry was found in their possession. The judges said that they had exchanged the death sentence for imprisonment in order to give the two a chance to change their ways.
