Jordan police kill one in raid on al-Qaida cell

Jordanian police killed a man and arrested another in an ongoing crackdown on a suspected al-Qaida cell in northern Jordan on Tuesday, security officials said. Both men attempted to resist arrest when special police forces and an elite intelligence unit stormed their house, the officials told The Associated Press. Police shot one of them dead, said the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the operation was under way. The other man is in police custody, they said.
