Jordanians, Iraqis plan how to combat terrorism

Jordanian and Iraqi interior ministers and their security officials met Wednesday to coordinate plans and share intelligence on terrorist groups such as al-Qaida, which has staged devastating attacks in both states, Jordanian and Iraqi officials said. The one-day meeting followed last week's call by the Iraq Study Group, a bipartisan US commission, for Iraq's six neighbors to take a more active role in stemming the violence that is ripping the country apart. It also comes 13 months after Iraqi suicide bombers of al-Qaida blew themselves up in three hotels in Jordan's capital, killing 60 people in the country's worst terror attack. Jordanian Interior Minister Eid al-Fayez, Iraqi Interior Minister Jawad al-Bolani, Iraqi Minister of State for National Security Sherwan al-Waeli met behind closed doors with top Jordanian security officers, a Jordanian security official told The Associated Press, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the press.
