Khamenei: US policy toward Iraq will fail

Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei met Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki in Teheran on Thursday night and promised that Iran would stand by Baghdad through the current crisis. "We want for the government to be for all Iraqi sects: Kurds, Sunni and Shiite," Khamenei said, while adding that "occupation forces" - shorthand for US troops - "are responsible for the problems in all aspects of life" in Iraq. A staunch US opponent, Khamenei predicted that the "US policy toward Iraq will definitely fail."
