King Abdullah II criticizes Muslim extremists

Jordan's King Abdullah II called on Saturday for an increased effort to uproot terrorism and the extremists "who threaten Islam and the entire world." His advisor read an announcement in the king's name, saying that comprehensive solutions to the problems and challenges facing the Islamic world must be found quickly. The announcement criticized extremists who "harm the people and the culture," and called upon Muslims to follow moderate Islam and listen to the teachings of recognized religious leaders.
