As-Safir reports detainees trained offshore to attack German ship; June 24 attack preceded by "lengthy preparation."

The Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and UNIFIL arrested a group of terrorists planning a naval attack on a German vessel, As-Safir, a Lebanese daily, was quoted by Israel Radio Tuesday.
According to the report, the detainees were training in the shore near the country's northern border, across from the Naher el Bared refugee camp.
On June 24th, six Spanish soldiers were killed when a roadside bomb detonated near a UNIFIL vehicle. A report in As-Safir quoting unnamed European intelligence sources, claimed that the attack was carried out by a "fundamentalist group" that came from outside the area of the Litani River, where the attack took place, but relied on local elements for preparation and consultation before the attack.
The preparation for the attack on UNIFIL was preceded by thorough, lengthy planning. The terrorists captured Tuesday were also caught during preparatory training. No links have so far been reported between the group that carried out the attack June 24th and the group detained Tuesday.
