Lebanese president arrives in Syria for historic visit

Lebanese President Michel Suleiman arrived in Damascus Wednesday on the first visit to Syria by a Lebanese head of state in more than three years. Suleiman and his wife were greeted at the airport by their Syrian counterparts, President Bashar Assad and the Syrian first lady. Many hope the historic visit will help patch up troubled ties between the two neighboring countries. The two-day visit is the first by a Lebanese president to Syria since it withdrew its troops from Lebanon in 2005 under international pressure.
