Lebanon: 2 UNIFIL troops killed, 2 others injured

Two Belgian UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon were killed and two others were injured in a road accident on Wednesday, a UN spokesman said. Liam McDowall, a spokesman for the UN peacekeeping force known as UNIFIL, said the Belgian soldiers were driving an armored personnel carrier near the village of Kfar Chouba when the accident occured. Witnesses said the vehicle overturned. Two soldiers were killed instantly and two others were injured, one seriously, McDowall said. The injured were rushed to hospital in the southern port city of Sidon. McDowall said UNIFIL was conducting an investigation to determine what happened. "We are looking into the matter," he said.
