Lebanon: Police break up anti-US protest

About 200 flag-waving young people chanted anti-American slogans in a downtown square Saturday, protesting a meeting between the prime minister and a top US envoy on a mission to assure Lebanon of American support. After a two-hour meeting with Premier Fuad Saniora, Assistant US Secretary of State David Welch reissued a warning to Syria to fully and unconditionally cooperate with the UN investigation into the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, or face "further action."
