Mubarak meets Iranian parliament speaker

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak met speaker of the Iranian parliament Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, in Cairo on Monday, IRNA reported on Wednesday. During the meeting, Haddad-Adel said Mubarak "emphasized he was under no American pressure on his relationship with Iran." Diplomatic ties between Egypt and Iran were severed in 1979, following the Islamic Revolution and Egypt's peace accord with Israel. There have been several reports of late that the two countries might re-establish their relations.
