Nine jailed Hamas operatives announced to the Hamas leadership that they have resigned their membership in the organization and have joined instead al-Qaida.
Prison authorities said that the resignation was a protest, reflecting the operatives' disillusionment that Hamas was not carrying out enough terror attacks, Israel Radio reported early Wednesday morning.
