PA: Death of Palestinian man was accidental

A Palestinian man who died in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday was killed in an accidental explosion, a Palestinian investigator said. Palestinian hospital officials and relatives of the man said earlier Tuesday that the man was killed by Israeli tank fire. Mohammed Fara, 45, died while working in his marble factory about 600 meters from the Gaza-Israel border fence. The army denied involvement, and the Palestinian Interior Ministry opened an investigation. A Palestinian security official familiar with the investigation said Fara was drilling through a metal fuel tank that accidentally exploded. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media. The Israeli army said it had been informed by the Palestinians that the man had been handling a gas canister that exploded.
