Palestinian violence rages across Gaza Strip

Palestinian gunmen waged a street battle outside the residence of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas around dawn Monday, as factional violence continued to engulf the Gaza Strip. The volatile coastal territory was buffeted by clashes between Hamas and Fatah, rival groups battling for control over the Palestinian government, all day Sunday, with gunmen shooting up the Palestinian foreign minister's convoy and militants launching mortar shells at Abbas' office in a daylong wave of attacks that killed three and wounded many others.
