PLO founder Khaled al-Fahoum dies in exile

Khaled al-Fahoum, the former head of the Palestinian parliament in exile, died Sunday of old age, Palestinian officials said. He was 84. Al-Fahoum died in his home on the outskirts of Damascus early in the day, said Anwar Abdul-Hadi of the Palestine Liberation Organization. Al-Fahoum was a member of the PLO's Central Committee from its founding in 1964 until 1971. He was head of the National Palestinian Council from 1971 until 1984.
