Lebanese security forces discovered a Syrian plot four days ago to target 36 anti-Syrian officials, according to the Lebanese paper al Mustaqbal and cited by Israel Radio Wednesday. The paper is owned by the Hariri family. The assassinations were to be carried out by a pro-Syrian Palestinian group called Fatah-Abu Musa or Fatah Intifada, the article claimed. The plot was discovered during the interrogation of two men sent to Lebanon by Syrian intelligence. According to the report, Syria wanted the assassinations to look like the work of an al-Qaida faction.
