Saddam Hussein's deputy, who faces death by hanging for his role in the killing of Shi'ite Muslims, urged young members of the insurgency in Iraq to continue their fight against the country's occupiers, his lawyer said Tuesday.
An Iraqi court on Monday raised the sentence against Taha Yassin Ramadan to death by hanging after he was convicted in the killings of Shi'ites in the Iraqi town of Dujail.
The decision had been expected after an appeals court ruled that Ramadan's previous sentence of life in prison was too lenient.
