Saudi Arabia beheads citizen convicted of murdering compatriot

The Saudi Interior Ministry says a Saudi man convicted of fatally shooting a fellow national has been executed in Riyadh. A ministry statement carried by the official Saudi Press Agency identified the beheaded man as Thiyab Bin Thahwi al-Shammari. He was convicted of gunning down Mansour Bin Saad al-Ajmi during an unspecified argument. Saudi Arabia follows a strict interpretation of Islam under which people convicted of murder, drug trafficking, rape and armed robbery can be executed, usually by a sword.
