A military prosecutor has issued an arrest warrant against former Syrian Vice President Abdual-Halim Khaddam for allegedly inciting the United States to invade Syria, a lawyer said Monday.
Attorney Hussam al-Deen Habash told The Associated Press that military prosecutor Abdul-Razzak Homsi issued the in-absentia arrest warrant against Khaddam on Monday, and that the warrant was sent to the Interpol office in Damascus for distribution to all Interpol offices in the world.
Khaddam, a top member of the Syrian ruling elite for nearly 30 years, has lived in self-exile in France since last year. Members of his family have joined him there.
