Syrian authorities on Monday released a human rights activist who was detained last week while on his way to Egypt, a rights group said Monday.
The Syrian Observatory for Human rights said in a statement obtained by The Associated Press that that Jihaduddine Salim al-Msouti, 59, was released a day after he was detained Thursday while on his way to Cairo to attend a human rights workshop.
SOHR welcomed al-Msouti's release and called on the Syrian authorities to stop such measures and unconditionally free all political prisoners.
