Thousands of Iraqis demonstrate for Lebanon

Thousands of Iraqis demonstrated in Baghdad on Friday praising the leader of Lebanon's Hizbullah group and denouncing Israel and the United States for attacks against Lebanon. Some protesters said they were ready to fight the Israelis. Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki condemned the attacks and warned they could lead to "an escalation of violence in the region." The demonstrations started immediately after Muslims left Friday prayers in mosques around the county. Thousands of people chanted slogans and carried banners denouncing the Israel's attacks on Lebanon. The Iraqi protests came as the Hizbullah fired more rockets at Israeli towns across the border on Friday. In escalating operations, IDF warplanes struck the Lebanese capital of Beirut, blasting the airport for a second day, knocking down a bridge, igniting fuel storage tanks and cutting the main highway to Syria.
