A tunnel used by Palestinian smugglers along the Egyptian border collapsed late Friday, trapping at least two people inside, security officials said.
Rescue teams rushed to the scene to try to dig out the people.
Smugglers frequently operate along the sandy border area, sneaking weapons, cigarettes and other contraband into Gaza.
