Turkish warplanes hit Kurdish rebel targets in Iraq

Turkish warplanes hit separatist Kurdish rebel targets in northern Iraq early on Sunday, Turkey's military said in a statement posted on its Web site. The warplanes hit targets of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, in regions close to the border with Turkey as well as in Qandil mountain, which is further away from the frontier, the military's statement said. All planes returned to their bases, it said.
