Two Australian troops wounded in Iraq explosion

Two Australian soldiers were wounded when an improvised explosive device destroyed their armored vehicle in the southern Iraqi province of Dhi Qar, a Defense Department spokesman said Tuesday. The two were flown by US helicopter to a military hospital at the Tallil Air Base after the attack north of An Nasariyah on Monday evening, Brig. Gus Gilmore said. Their injuries were not life-threatening, he said. A second armored vehicle that was patrolling with the first also was damaged by the explosion and was unable to move.
