Two American soldiers were killed and two were wounded by a roadside bomb Thursday in south Baghdad, the US military said.
A military statement specified that the bomb was an explosively formed penetrator - a type of weapon which the Americans say is provided to Iraqi extremists by the Iranians. Iran denies the allegation.
No further details were released.
