UNSC: Palestinian donors' conference 'important step' on road to peace

The United Nations Security Council praised last Monday's international donors' conference in Paris where $7.4 billion was pledged by countries around the world to support the Palestinian Authority. In a statement released Saturday, the UNSC said the conference was an important step on the way to establishing a Palestinian state living in peace with Israel. Representatives of all 15 members of the UNSC approved the statement praising the conference and urged the international community to continue in its support of the Palestinian economy and assist them in setting up institutions. Head of the Palestinian delegation to the UN, Riad Mansur, said the statement proved that the UNSC intends to be involved in Israeli-Palestinian negotiations and help the two sides attain a peace deal next year.
