US military announces deaths of five US soldiers

A roadside bomb killed two US soldiers on Friday, the military said after reporting three other American troops died earlier in the week. The two Multi-National Division-Baghdad soldiers died Friday morning when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb southeast of the capital, the military said. Two US Marines who were assigned to the 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division were killed in separate attacks Wednesday and Thursday, according to the military. They were attacked in the insurgent stronghold of Anbar, a vast province that stretches from western Baghdad to the borders with Syria and Jordan. A Multi-National Division Baghdad soldier also died in a non-combat incident at about 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, the military said, adding that the incident was under investigation.
