Saddam Hussein remains in American custody pending his handover to Iraqi authorities for execution, a top Iraqi official said on Friday.
Earlier Friday, American sources said Saddam would be executed within a week.
The previous week an Iraqi court put a 30 day deadline on Hussein's execution, after having rejected an appeal made on his behalf.
