Christian pilgrims take a dip at baptismal site

Orthodox Christians visit the Jordan River, where John the Baptist is believed to have baptized Jesus in a pre-Easter ritual.

Orthodox Christian pilgrims and nuns gathered for a dip in the Jordan River on Wednesday in a pre-Easter ceremony.

The worshipers submerged themselves in the waters of the river at the baptismal site known as Qasr el-Yahud, where it is believed John the Baptist baptized Jesus.The baptismal site is located close to Jericho.
