Sentence delayed at request of defense who asked for more time to study conviction; lawyer: New information could affect punishment.

The sentencing hearing of Ronnie Ron and Marie Pizem for the murder and incitement to murder of four-year-old Rose Pizem, which was supposed to be held on Monday, has been postponed by two weeks.The court ruled to postpone the hearing at the request of the defense teams who asked for more time to study the judges' 350-page conviction ruling.RELATED:Grandfather convicted of killing Rose Pizem, 4, in ’08Ron’s lawyer, who was brought on to the case the previous evening also said he had new information that he needed to verify, which could have significant bearing on the sentence.Three-and-a-half years after Rose's body was found in a suitcase at the bottom of the Yarkon River, the Central District Court two weeks ago convicted her Ron of murdering the child and her mother, Marie, of inciting the murder.The judges ruled that Ron’s decision to kill Rose was not a spontaneous decision and that he had done so after repeated requests by his daughter-in-law, who was also his lover.The three-judge panel headed by Judge Avraham Tal decided to forgo reading out the 342-page verdict and directly delivered the guilty verdict. While Ron seemed unaffected by the decision, several minutes after the judges announced it, Pizem broke down sobbing and was escorted out of the courtroom.The sentencing hearing is now scheduled to take place June 13.
