In a somewhat unexpected reversal of roles, the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday issued a travel advisory cautioning Israelis about visiting Britain.
“As a result of the wave of protests taking place over the last few days in British cities – London, Manchester, Birmingham, and other cites – the Foreign Ministry recommends Israelis to be vigilant and avoid places of unrest and gathering places of groups of youth, and to listen to the instructions of the police and the local authorities.”
Britain, as a result of this advisory, joins Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Guatemala, Peru, Bolivia and Egypt as countries toward which the Foreign Ministry has issued travel advisories because of violence since the beginning of the year.
The British Foreign Office has a long standing travel advisory on its web site regarding “Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.”
