Heatwave scorches country; chance of haze in South

Temperatures expected to reach at least 30 degrees in most areas of the country, with sizzling temperatures peaking at 37 degrees in Eilat.

A strong heatwave scorched most regions throughout Israel on Sunday, with temperatures forecast to peak at 32 degrees in Tel Aviv, 29 degrees in Jerusalem, and 35 degrees in Beersheba. In Eilat, temperatures were expected to reach 37 degrees during the course of the day. The Israel Meteorological Service warned of the chance of haze in the South.
In the afternoon, winds were expected to pick up as cooler and moister air moves in, with a chance of drizzle.
Monday is forecast to be partly cloudy with a drop in temperatures, but a rise in humidity.
Over the weekend, temperatures reached 25 degrees in Tel Aviv, 26 degrees in Jerusalem, and 31 degrees in Beersheba. The hottest spot in the country was the Dead Sea, with temperatures reaching 33 degrees during the course of the day.
