IFCJ donates four new fire trucks

International Fellowship of Christians and Jews donates vehicles during week which marks 2 years since Carmel forest fire.

Israel’s firefighting services received four new fire trucks from the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews this week, which marks two years since the Carmel Forest fire.
The fellowship purchased the vehicles with over $1 million that it managed to raise overseas after the disaster occurred.
The trucks are set to go to fire stations in the Upper Galilee, the Western Galilee, Haifa and Gedera.
They will replace the 1985 fire engines that served firefighter Danny Hayat and teen volunteer Elad Riven, who died as they tried to rescue a burning bus in the 2010 forest fire.
“Our donors are proud to be part of saving lives in Israel and maintaining the strength of the country,” said IFCJ head Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein.
He added that “now we are getting hundreds of calls from children around the world who want to give up their Christmas gifts to contribute to the security of Israel and the Jewish state.”
