Isolated thunderstorms, rain seen in North, Center

Intermittent showers and strong winds experienced with risk of flash flood in southern Wadis; temperatures expected to rise mid-week.

Intermittent showers accompanied by strong winds and isolated thunderstorms in the North and Center were experienced throughout Sunday. The rain and the winds are predicted to subside over the course of the evening.
There is still a risk of flash floods in the Wadis of the south and east.
The rain in the North and Center is forecasted to spread to the Negev on Sunday evening, with continued risk of flash floods in low-lying areas, according to the Israel Meteorological Service.
Flooding was reported in the southern city of Sderot.
Temperatures throughout the country were expected to rise steadily over the course of the week, becoming considerably warmer during the weekend.
Rains were expected to continue intermittently into Monday. Temperatures were forecasted to warm on Tuesday, with the possibility of very light rain in the morning.
Over the last weekend, heavy rains hit the northern city of Haifa, causing widespread flooding, particularly on roads.
The Haifa municipality reported 10 incidents involving falling trees or branches, including a 27-year-old woman who was lightly injured after a tree collapsed onto her car.
Large swaths of Eilat were flooded Friday as torrential rains hit Israel's southernmost city.
An estimated 16.5 mm of rain fell in Eilat, half the average annual amount, closing the airport and blocking entrance into the city via highway 90. The airport was reopened on Saturday morning.
