PM at Mimouna festival: Our condolences to Livnat family

Netanyahu says Moroccan community among the most important for Israel, stresses that "we are working to return our missing people."

The Moroccan community in Israel is among the most important for for the country, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said on Monday night during Mimouna festivities in Or Akiva.
Netanyahu said that the Moroccan community has brought to Israel "many Jews, a lot of warmth, pleasantness, a love for humanity, sugar and sweetness. This has became a holiday for the whole nation."

During the festivities, the president also commented on the murder of Ben Yosef Livnat on Sunday, saying "Our days of joy are mixed with sadness. We send condolences to the Livnat family, who's son was cruelly attacked.
He added that "We are working and making efforts to return our missing people and prisoners."
Commenting on the recent unrest in the Arab world, Netanyahu said, "We see around us unrest, but we also see one place which is different, because this nation is different. People built this wonderful country...we are building this country for thousands of years. We have all the power we need to face challenges."
President Shimon Peres also attended a Mimouna, as a guest of honor at Jerusalem's main Mimouna festivity.
He ate mufletot and blessed the Moroccan community and the people of Israel with the end of the Pessah holiday.
Other officials including opposition leader Tzipi Livni, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat, Sephardi Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar, and Labor MK Binyamin Ben-Eliezer also attended Mimouna events throughout the country.
