Police on a routine foot patrol found a 19-yearold woman encircled by African migrants who had sexually assaulted and robbed her, a law enforcement spokeswoman said on Tuesday.
“We believe she has been raped by one of the suspects as well,” the Tel Aviv Police spokeswoman added.
The officers spotted Eritrean and Sudanese men surrounding the Bat Yam woman in a parking lot on Sharon Street in south Tel Aviv. She had been on her way home from a night club. Approaching the group, police saw that the men were sexually assaulting her, the spokeswoman said.
Police arrested four suspects; two others managed to flee.
“We suspect that they also robbed her,” the spokeswoman added.
All four of those arrested are in their 20s. They were due to appear in the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court for a remand hearing.
The incident comes on the heels of another rape case in central Tel Aviv, and has led to concern among members of the public over their safety late at night.
