Rose Pizem's mother and grandfather were sentenced on Monday to life imprisonment for her murder. The court originally sentenced both to a life sentence in mid-May, but agreed to stay the decision until Monday to hear arguments for leniency.The Petah Tikvah District Court convicted Ronnie Ron in May of murdering his three-and-a half-year-old granddaughter, Rose Pizem, and convicted the girl's mother, Ron's lover Marie-Charlotte, of soliciting the murder.RELATED:Court: Pizem murder sentence hearing postponed Grandfather convicted of killing Rose Pizem, 4, in ’08 Rose Pizem went missing from Netanya in 2008.On July 23, both the Israeli and the French sides of her family asked authorities to check on her welfare.At first her disappearance was treated as a missing child’s case, but suspicions soon fell on Ron, and then on Pizem as well.Three-and-a-half years after Rose's body was found in a suitcase at the bottom of the Yarkon River, the Central District Court about a month ago convicted Ron of murdering the child and her mother, Marie, of inciting the murder.The judges ruled that Ron’s decision to kill Rose was not a spontaneous decision and that he had done so after repeated requests by his daughter-in-law, who was also his lover.Ron Friedman contributed to this report.
