Three people were killed and nine were injured in a collision involving no fewer than seven vehicles in the South on Wednesday.
Traffic Police suspect the accident began when a driver slowed down near the village of Nizna, on a road in the southern Negev, due to poor visibility caused by a sand storm, before other vehicles crashed into him.
Magen David Adom evacuated one critically injured person and another seriously injured person to Soroka University Medical Center in Beersheba. A further seven people were hospitalized, three in moderate condition and four with light injuries.
Five trucks and two other large vehicles were involved in the accident, police said.
Eye witnesses said an army truck was the vehicle that slowed down because of poor visibility, before being struck by a minibus ferrying workers from Rahat. More collisions followed.
