Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas invited Rabbi Menahem Froman to meet with him to discuss the PA's plan for the synagogues being left standing in Gaza. Abbas suggested the possibility of turning the synagogues into charity centers. Speaking to Army Radio, Froman said a date had not yet been set for the meeting. "The synagogues, which were originally slated for destruction under the disengagement plan, will turn into places of peace. In both religions [Islam and Judaism], the commandment of charity is the most central; the synagogues will become places of love," the rabbi said.
