Supreme Court rules in favor of embryonic stem cell research in Brazil

Brazil's Supreme Court says scientists can conduct research using embryonic stem cells. The research holds the promise of curing Parkinson's disease and diabetes but raises ethical concerns about the limits on human life. Six of the court's 11 justices on Thursday upheld a 2005 law allowing embryonic stem cell research by turning down a petition arguing that the law is unconstitutional because it violates the right to life.
