Police bar east Jerusalem procession protesting IDF op in Gaza

Jerusalem police on Monday barred hundreds of Arab residents of the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Issawiya from holding a procession out of their village against the Israeli offensive operation in Gaza, police said. There were no injuries reported in the early-evening incident, and the residents returned to their neighborhood after police turned them back, Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said. Violent anti-Israel stone-throwing protests among Arabs residents of east Jerusalem over the last ten days have largely petered out, but tensions continue to simmer in the area.
