Serbia seeks arrest of neo-Nazi living in Italy
03/24/2009
A Serbian court is seeking the arrest of a neo-Nazi leader who was sentenced to one year in prison but who reportedly fled to Italy before serving the term. The court in the northern city of Novi Sad said that Goran Davidovic has not appeared to serve his one-year sentence but that his parents informed authorities that he now lives in Italy. An arrest warrant issued by the court Tuesday paved the way for a formal extradition request by Serbian authorities. Davidovic has been convicted of inciting national, ethnic and religious hatred for breaking into an anti-fascist rally in 2005 and harassing the participants. Authorities have also urged a ban on his National Order fascist group.
