Fatah's chances of joining government dwindling Staff
After weeks of negotiation, it seemed Sunday morning that the Fatah Movement will apparently not join the Hamas-led coalition in the Palestinian Authority, after eleventh-hour negotiations over the weekend between incoming prime minister Ismail Haniyeh and PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas failed. Hamas has set an ultimatum of Monday for Palestinian parties to join their government, but Abbas made his party's participation dependant on Hamas' willingness to stand by previous agreements made with Israel. "Those who continue with armed opposition cannot have a place in the government," Abbas said.
