Iran: Brazil and Turkey make new nuclear proposal
By ASSOCIATED PRESS

TEHERAN, Iran — Iran says Brazil and Turkey have offered a new joint proposal for a nuclear fuel deal.

Tuesday's remarks by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast come as Teheran seeks to stave off new UN sanctions for its defiance of Security Council demands that it curb nuclear activities that could be used to make weapons.

"The latest talks with Turkey and Brazil have produced a new formula that could pave the ground for understanding," Mehmanparast said.

He didn't elaborate during the weekly press conference but said both the Brazilian and Turkish presidents will be traveling to Iran next week following recent visits by their foreign ministers.
