Traffic Police suspend more than 130 licenses; man struck by car while going to help victims of previous collision.
Traffic Police over the weekend caught about 140 drunk drivers, the majority of which were subject to suspended licenses, Israel Radio reported Saturday.

Police suspended more than 130 driver's licenses for 30 days citing traffic violations.

Earlier on Saturday, an approximately 50-year-old man was struck by a vehicle and seriously hurt on Route 5 east of Tel Aviv after he got out of his own car to help several people who had been involved in an earlier accident on the highway.

The initial accident involved a car traveling against the direction of traffic colliding with an eastbound car. A taxi driver exited his car to help those involved in the collision and was hit by a passing car.

Police were questioning the driver who was traveling against the direction of traffic.

Two people were lightly injured in the initial accident.

MDA paramedics transferred the seriously injured man to Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer, while the lightly injured victims of the initial collision were transferred to Beilinson Medical Center in Petah Tikva.
