Ruth Eglash
11/22/2006
The women's international Zionist organization WIZO will run a 12-hour hotline Wednesday as part of its campaign to raise awareness of battered women ahead of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25. According to a survey conducted by the organization, which runs the national Battered Women's Hotline, 43% of men call looking for professional advice when they are in difficult domestic situations. The aim of Wednesday's special hotline, which can be reached at (02) 655-1145, is to help men break the cycle of violence or prevent them from becoming violent against their partners and even for men who are the victims of violence within their own families, said Malka Genhovsky, director of the Center for the Treatment of Violence in the Family.
