Histadrut: General strike likely to resume
JPost.com Staff

According to Histadrut assessments, a continuation of last week's general public sector strike is unavoidable, Army Radio reported on Wednesday. Over the past week, which has been dedicated to negotiations between the Histadrut and the Finance Ministry over the payment of municipal workers' delayed salaries, attempts to reach an agreement have failed. Histadrut Chairman Ofer Eini said Wednesday morning that he was loath to resume the strike, but that if the state did not fulfill its obligation to pay its workers, he would most likely declare the strike anew. Discussions are expected to take place Thursday at the National Labor Court, where government representatives will announce which workers will be receiving their salaries.
